original description

I wanted to draw the seven chaos emeralds, but couldn't decide on which colors to use, so I did some research and counted 12 different colors. Here's a description/history of each:

Green: Probably the most common one in the franshise. Appears in every sonic game/comic/show that has chaos emeralds, except the ones wear they're all blue.

Red: Also a very common one, appearing in pretty much every sonic thing with chaos emeralds where they're all different colors.

White is pretty much the same as red with the exception that in Archie comics, there was a white chaos emerald in a special stage, even though this was before Feist fused them together to make the seven differently colored emeralds

Yellow is pretty much the same as red with the exception that it looks red-orange as a super emerald

Cyan: This one's been around ever since it replaced the blue emerald in sonic 2 and appeared in most games since

Blue is pretty much the same as red with the excoption that in some games (like sonic spinball), but very rarely, all the emeralds are blue

Purple: First appeared in sonic 2 and appeared in most games since (It looked pinkish in sonic 3 though)

Orange: Appears in Sonic the Fighters (each character had an emerald to represent them, this one represented Tails), Sonic R (replacing blue), and sonic the comic (replacing cyan)

Pink: Appears in Sonic the hedghog (1991), Sonic 2, Sonic the fighters (representing Amy), and, as said before, the purple one looks pinkish in sonic 3

Dark purple: In Sonic the Fighters, the purple one represented Espio, while a darker one represented Fang

Gray: In Sonic Adventure and Sonic Unleashed, the Chaos Emeralds turn gray when they run out of energy

Black: In Archie Comics, a black emerald replaced the master emerald in the role of prison for Tikal an Chaos 0 (in Archie comics, the master emerald was made during Sonic's time)

The currently canon colors are green, red, white, yellow, cyan, blue, and purple.
